The National College Barbu Stirbei is a medium size secondary school. The school provides a theoretical training in: sciences (Mathematics-Computer Sciences & Natural Sciences) and humanities (Philology & Bilingual language study). There are at present 723 students between the ages of 14 - 18 years old. The school is an UNESCO Associated School. As part of this status it works very closely with other ASP schools.

- To use the atmosphere created by good relationships to develop the potential of ALL students by ensuring that they are equipped, as far as possible, with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, qualifications and understanding that they need for further/higher education, employment and life.
- To initiate and encourage in students, teachers and parents a continuing respect for study, an unbiased view of the world of work, and a proper appreciation of the use of leisure time to develop self and community.
